layout: arrangement of page elements (headings, text, photos, videos, bars, newsfeeds, etc.) based on web layout principles of space, balance, proximity, contrast, consistency and rhythm

typeface: use of browser-compatible and screen-readable typefaces

colour: reflection of brand image, compatibility with site purpose and functions, need for subtlety and typeface readability, and complementary colour use

images: use, definition and arrangement of still (photos, drawings, etc.) and use of moving images (videos, adverts, etc.) involving Flash and Gif animation
