BCL has donated its time and expertise to build a website for the charity
Shine African Children's Trust (SACT), set up to establish homes for
children in Zimbabwe orphaned by HIV Aids and other factors in that troubled
country. For more on SACT and to find out how you could help, please go to

In normal circumstances, these children would be cared for by the extended
family, a strong tradition in Zimbabwe and in keeping with what is
usually the best course - keeping children in the community.
But the circumstances are not normal. Communities have broken down. The
extended family has died or fled or is facing such severe hardship that it
can no longer take these children in. And this will take years to repair.
SACT is starting in small way, with a home in the Eastern Highlands
(Nyanga). The house was donated by a former Zimbabwe newspaper editor who
has fled the country, and the home is scheduled to open in January 2009. The aim
is to open up more homes as time and funds allow.
If all this persuades you to donate (via the website), however small a sum,
that would be wonderful.
And if you tell others about the website, people you think might also like
to donate, that would be even more wonderful.
